As a result of all the many activities that we carry out daily on our PC, many homes and companies have started to install PC monitoring software. Before you get puzzled, let us look at the many reasons as to why the need for such a software.

Firstly, we would have to understand what the software monitor really is. The software, in essence, monitors the activities that we do on our PC daily. The list of things we do on the computer each day can go on and on. To name a few, we make purchases, receive e-mails, send e-mails, chat, do work, make Internet calls and much more.

Before we jump judgement such as invasion of personal privacy, let us examine the potential threats and dangerous consequences in different situations.

By beginning with companies, we will soon realise that the purpose of such an institution is to maximise its revenues. With such a monitoring software in place, these companies would be able to detect, and often are unforgiving to employees that are splurging company's time away on the internet with no relation to work at all.

With such employees under its payroll, these companies also risk having private pictures and sensitive information posted on the Internet via blogs and chatting channels. This does not exclude the leakage of its internal information, especially of sensitive nature.

Next, we move into homes all around the world. Working parents hardly have time to monitor the activities of their children all of the time.

Children, due to their naive and inquisitive nature can succumb to and be taken advantage of by the lewd characters lurking out there. Hence, with such a software installed in the PC, these working parents, in essence, are aware of just how much time their kids are spending their activities on their PC. This would hence give them an upperhand in handling the issues before it gets out of hand.
